Join Corsica Technologies and John Joyner at the upcoming TechMentor 2026. John will speak at two sessions for the Cybersecurity track: Industrial security with Defender for IoT, and Zero Trust with Defender for Cloud/Defender EASM.
Where: Microsoft HQ, Redmond WA
When: August 3-7, 2026.
Session Title: Achieve Zero Trust objectives with Defender for Cloud and Defender EASM integrated with Defender XDR
August 5th, 2026 | 4:00pm – 5:15pm
‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’ expresses the simple logic behind the Defender for Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Cloud Workload Protection (CWP), and External Attack Surface Management (EASM) features of Microsoft Defender XDR. In addition to your SIEM, which is reactive, every shop needs to have insight into misconfiguration issues and compliance risks in the cloud–a logical extension of Zero Trust policies. Learn how the multi-cloud features of Defender for Cloud continuously monitor cloud infrastructure including DevOps platforms for gaps in security policy enforcement across all clouds and all platforms. Leverage agentless vulnerability scanning, secrets scanning, Kubernetes discovery, container assessments, and Security Copilot plug-ins. Understand how Defender EASM continuously discovers and maps your digital attack surface to provide an external view of your online infrastructure.
You will learn:
- Seed Defender EASM with known legitimate assets to make inferences about assets’ relationship to your organization and uncover previously unknown and unmonitored artifacts.
- How to achieve effective prioritization of cross-platform security recommendations in the Defender XDR portal.
- How to connect GitHub repositories for code supply scanning, surface findings, remediate them, and increase security score.
Session Title: Protect Your Industrial Control Systems with Microsoft Defender for IoT
August 5th, 2026 | 9:30am – 10:45am
Make OT security a core part of your SOC strategy with Microsoft Defender for IoT. Learn the ‘why and how’ for Defender for IoT to include an OT overview, IT vs OT security discussion, OT customer challenges, IoT market drivers, and Defender for IoT architecture to include sensor engines and the OT alerting catalog. See industrial systems integrated into Defender XDR/Sentinel SIEM for unified threat visibility and automation capabilities. Understand at a high level a project plan for discovery, deployment, tuning and operationalization of Defender for IoT best practices.
You will learn:
- Copilot for Security and Agentic AI integration with Defender for IoT.
- Defender for IoT sensor and license planning to include form factors, capacity ratings, and costs.
- Zero Trust policy compliance with Defender for IoT’s firmware analysis feature for proactive supply chain security.
